Sweden vs Spain Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

The 2012 European champions are close to reaching next summer’s tournament and we think their game in Solna will spring in action after the break

Spain travel to Sweden this week looking to avoid defeat at the Friends Arena and seal their place at Euro 2020.

Roberto Moreno’s side are currently top of Group F, five points ahead of second placed Sweden meaning a draw for La Roja would be good enough to confirm qualification.

The two sides met back in June with Spain running out 3-0 winners at the Bernabeu.

Latest odds

Sweden have won all three home matches so far in the group and Sportsbet offer them at 4.20 to record another success. Spain were held to a 1-1 draw in Norway at the weekend and another stalemate is priced at 3.30 with the visitors available at 1.72 to pick up all three points.

Sweden vs Spain Team News

The game against Norway saw Spain field 11 played from 11 different clubs for the first time ever. It will not be the same starting 11 however against Sweden with Sergio Ramos suspended having picked up a yellow card in Oslo.

The centre-back pairing for the visitors therefore is likley to be Inigo Martinez and Raul Albiol.

Sweden coach Janne Andersson has no new injury problems and is expected to field a similar side to the one that overcame Malta by a 3-0 scoreline.

Sweden vs Spain Preview

The hosts are capable of giving La Roja an extremely competitive match, and despite losing 3-0 last time out they managed to frustrate Spain for the first hour of the contest.

Moreno’s men for their part know that a draw is enough for them to qualify and even a defeat would leave them in a strong position, meaning the onus may not be on the visitors to be overly attacking.

In any case Spain’s away games tend to be low-scoring affairs at the best of times, so without any need for a victory, opposing goals looks like a strong option.

Opposing early goals meanwhile could be even more profitable with Spain generally having to wait for a while before finding a breakthrough.

Tips and predictions

Five of La Roja’s last seven away Euro qualifiers have seen under 2.5 goals and a repeat is available at 1.79.

Perhaps a shrewder option is backing the second half to be the highest scoring half at 2.10.

This selection has paid out in five of Spain’s seven matches in Group F including in each of their last four qualifiers and is available at a healthy looking price.
