Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo has explained committing himself to Brazil’s squad this week.
Barcelona would surely have preferred Arthur to skip his national team duties and stay in Spain during the international break, but the Brazilian has stressed that playing for the Selecao is an honour for him.
Brazil have travelled to Singapore, where they will play a couple of friendly games against Senegal and Nigeria on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
“I understand Barcelona‘s side, but for me and for everyone it is a huge honour and a mater of pride [to play for the national team],” he said at a press conference.
“Whenever I can, I won’t consider the effort of it and I will do my best to go.
“Here [at Brazil] they do the best possible job for the health of the footballers.
“They are quite aware that players have to return well to their clubs.”
