The former Bafana Bafana star wanted to set a beautiful example for his followers, but was surprised what he found during the clean-up
Golden Arrows head coach Steve Komphela is leading by example, demonstrating how one has to respect a venue.
In the 2018 Fifa World Cup we watched how Japanese fans cleaned their side of the stadiums in Russia. However, how often have you seen the head coach of a professional team clean a stadium?
Such humble acts were more common in the past, and Komphela is making a point about old values on social media today.
“A wise teacher once washed the feet of his followers,” Komphela wrote in a Tweet. He also posted the video of his clean up which you can watch below.
Later, the former Chiefs coach revealed he was shocked to find so much dirt, alcohol and condoms in the university venue.
Twitter follows have recognised the stadium to allegedly belong to the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Westville.
A few followers responded to Komphela, and the coach gave his advice on correct behaviour, criticising the youngsters and hoping they would one day reach a point of “higher leadership”.

We couldn’t just behave as if everything was normal. Too much dirt, littering, beer bottles, used condoms, it’s shocking. We couldn’t tolerate such carelessness. How did alcohol get into the varsity premises. Which parent would sleep at night when their kid is under such? https://t.co/7sGlIfuhII

Wabo, you dropping standards by “at least it’s safe sex”. Sex on the Varsity field? We should simply condemn such behavior. Period. The same guy will be facing charges in future when they ascend a stage of higher leadership and hierarchy due to lack of foresight. He’s not smart. https://t.co/rDYmWoHaQl
