The La Liga champions have not won on the road since April and we think that streak will continue when they visit the Spanish capital this weekend
Barcelona travel to Getafe‘s Coliseum Alfonso Perez this weekend looking for their first away win in La Liga for five months.
Ernesto Valverde’s men have been disappointing away from Camp Nou and their last match on the road saw them beaten 2-0 at newly promoted Granada.
Getafe for their part claimed their first league win of the season last weekend at home to Mallorca and followed that up with an impressive comeback 3-3 draw at Valencia midweek.
Latest odds
Getafe have lost only two of their last 16 home La Liga clashes although one of those defeats was at the hands Barcelona back in January. The Catalans won 2-1 on their previous visit to the Coliseum and Sportsbet offer another with for Barca at 1.83. The hosts meanwhile can be backed at 4.50 with the draw at 3.40.
Getafe vs Barcelona Team News
The Blaugrana head to the Spanish capital without Lionel Messi, who picked up a groin strain in midweek. Luis Suarez was substituted in midweek after an underwhelming performance and the Uruguayan could find himself being pushed by 16-year-old Ansu Fati for a starting berth. Defenders Jordi Alba and Samuel Umtiti remain out for the champions. For Getafe, Amath Ndiaye and Vitorino Antunes are long-term absentees.
Getafe vs Barcelona Preview
Getafe’s only defeat of the season came on the opening weekend away to Atletico Madrid where they went down by a 1-0 scoreline. Since then they have racked up six games without defeat in all competitions, finding the back of the net in every game. With Barcelona badly out of form on the road and missing Lionel Messi, Los Azulones could well feel they have a strong chance of recording their first win against the Catalans since 2011. Barca’s last four league visits to the Coliseum have seen them record three narrow wins (2-1, 2-1 and 2-0) and one draw (0-0) and they could well be made to work hard once again by one of the division’s most competitive sides.
Tips and predictions
Getafe to win with +1 handicap is priced at 1.91 and this is a tempting option given the respective form of the two sides. This bet pays out if Pepe Bordalas’ side avoid defeat and that looks a distinct possibility with Barca missing Messi and struggling badly on the road.
