Barcelona great Andres Iniesta has paid tribute to Fernando Torres.
Sagan Tosu‘s clash with Vissel Kobe was an emotional affair with it being Torres’ final match in professional football.
“Football brought us together more than 20 years ago, when we were kids. Well, you will always be ‘El Nino’ [The Kid],” Vissel Kobe ace Iniesta wrote in El Mundo.
“And nothing will separate us.
“We found each other when we had dreams of utopia.
“That goal that you scored in the under European Under-16 Championship against England, I will never forget the gesture of you dedicating that goal to me.
“I watched it on television because I had to come home due to injury.”
Iniesta highlights the friendship that has brought them together, even though they never played together at club level.
“That unforgettable pass from Xavi [Hernandez] to make sure that the wise one, the teacher, Luis [Aragones], was right,” he penned.
“That cross you made so that we could all score the most important goal of our lives.
“Separated, but always together, and until the end, above any shirt or club.”
