The young South African coach has been thrown in a the deep end, so how is he handling life in the hot seat so far?
Rulani Mokwena is temporarily in charge of Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Orlando Pirates after Milutin Sredojevic quit the club last Friday.
Mokwena built a promising reputation from behind the scenes at Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates due to his close relationship with players. He also has a passion for retweeting training videos and visiting foreign academies.
But does he walk the walk the way he talks the talk in PSL football? Mokwena lost his first game in charge at Pirates 1-0 to Highlands Park in the MTN8.
Then in his first PSL game, he drew 0-0 away to AmaZulu. Firstly, we hear from the coaches themselves on these results. We have post-match conference interviews of AmaZulu head coach Cavin Johnson and Mokwena discussing the draw on Tuesday night.
We also have additional post-match comments from Mokwena, who is providing some memorable one-liners to win over the fans, talking about how he’d bleed the right colours for Pirates.
On the other hand, Johnson is frustrated he didn’t beat Mokwena’s team with the opportunities presented to Usuthu.
We also include the fan reaction to Mokwena’s start. We are only two games in so it’s early to judge him and the likes of Mokwena will need to look away because PSL fans have a wicked sense of humour.
There are a number of critics who don’t believe he is ready for the pressure at a club like Pirates.

I’m seeing opposition fans go out of their way, trying to prove and continually reiterate how much they’re against Rhulani Mokwena. I mean, isn’t that how it’s supposed to be and is? That opposition fans, let alone derby rivals, don’t support the coach of the opposing team?

Hoping @bennimccarthy17 resigns after this Cape Town City FC loss to Polokwane City and go coach Orlando Pirates FC so that Fadlu Davids and Rhulani Mokwena can learn from a coach who has won a trophy before… #MTN8 #WafaWafa pic.twitter.com/OcZpaXVaQd
