The 22-year-old will spend her new Spanish top-flight season at Sporting after ending her season-long spell in Logrono
Fatoumata Kanteh has joined Spanish Liga Iberdrola outfit Sporting de Huelva following the expiration of her contract with Logrono.
The Spanish-born striker of Gambian descent joined Chechu Martínez’s side on a one-year deal in 2018 and has now parted ways with the club in a search for more game time.
The 22-year-old made 17 league appearances for Logrono last term, managing to start just five times and scored one goal.
Kanteh showed a glimpse of her talent when her injury-time strike in what turned out her farewell game confirmed Logrono’s top-flight safety with a 4-1 win against Albacete.
“Fatoumata Kenteh is a preferred front of the band as well as a diamond to be polished,” team’s head coach Antonio Toledo told the club website.
“She is a youth with huge physical potential and very good overflow in our band and vision of the game, if she works hard she can be a great front.”
For Kenteh, she said: “I decided to sign because they explained the project they had in mind for this new season and I thought it was very interesting.
“I am a very fast and technical player in small spaces, I hope that with the help of my teammates and good teamwork, I can score a lot of goals.
“My great goal for this season is to help the team to be at the top of the table and continue to grow as a player and as a person.”
Having sealed her move, the Gambian prospect becomes the third African to join the club this summer after Ghana‘s Princella Adubea and Nigeria‘s Peace Efih.
Kanteh will team up with her new team for the preseason camp next month ahead of the new season, which starts in September.
