Barcelona are ready to accelerate negotiations with Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.
With his contract’s buyout clause dropping from €200m to €120m yesterday, Barca are now pushing to close his transfer, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Griezmann has agreed personal terms with Barca over a five-year deal worth €16m-a-season – which will mean he’ll accept a dramatic cut on his €23m Atletico salary.
Rather than simply pay his buyout clause, Barca would prefer to negotiate terms with Atleti and will attempt thrash out a deal for the Frenchman. This would include an attempt to include players in their offer.
There is motivation at Barca to have Griezmann available for the start of preseason from July 14.
