Bafana Bafana superfan Botha Msila forced to give up his dream of hitchhiking to Egypt for Afcon

South African football supporter Botha Msila, who’s mission was to hitchhike from Cape Town to Cairo, has seen his dream come to an abrupt end.

Msila was last struggling to obtain a Visa to enter Ethiopia and had previously posted excited videos of himself from South Africa to Kenya. One can also read our first story from the start of his journey here.

Due to Visa complications, Msila posted the following heartbreaking new video of himself conceding that he has to return all the way back to South Africa.

The superfan hopes that somebody could help him with a plane ticket from Nairobi to Cairo, Egypt.

Alternatively, he would then hope that by the time he’s back in South Africa, he could get a ticket from there to Egypt for the start of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) next week. Bafana Bafana’s first game is against Ivory Coast next week Monday, June 24.

Many supporters are upset that an African cannot travel through Africa with a passport, but a European can achieve this in Europe, particularly when one is passionate about supporting their nation during the celebration of football in this continent.

Even though Msila says he will make this trip across Africa next time, the 2021 host nation is Cameroon.
