Germany look for their second win in Group C of Euro 2020 qualifying when they travel to Borisov to face Belarus on Saturday night.
Joachim Low’s side overcame the Netherlands 3-2 in dramatic fashion in their opening game and are overwhelming favourites to claim three points against lowly opposition.
Latest odds
Belarus have lost both of their qualifiers so far, going down 2-1 to Northern Ireland and 4-0 away to the Netherlands. William Hill offer a shock victory for the hosts at 16/1 (17.00), while Germany are priced at 4/25 (1.16) and the draw at 6/1 (7.00).
Team news
The 2014 World Cup winners are without Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos and Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who were both left out of the squad because of injury.
Belarus are without former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb, with the 38-year-old ruled out for the visit of Germany.
Preview
There is no doubt that Germany are in a transitional period, with the early exit from last summer’s World Cup followed by their relegation from League A in the UEFA Nations League still playing on the mind of Low.
Nevertheless, they should be far too strong against the side ranked 81st in the world and Saturday’s game should be all about the margin of victory for the visitors.
Certainly up front Germany have plenty of firepower with Timo Werner, Marco Reus and Leroy Sane all capable of causing their opponents some serious problems.
Low’s men have netted in each of their last five matches, racking up 10 goals in the process, and that scoring record should continue on Saturday night.
Tips and previews
Germany are offered at 8/5 (2.60) to win with a -2 handicap and that looks like being an interesting angle from which to approach the game.
The selection requires the visitors to score at least three goals, something they have done in recent games against the Netherlands and Russia. Belarus conceded four times in their opening match and Germany should be able to see them off with a high scoring win.
