Mundo Deportivo says Everton have opened talks over a deal for Gomes, who spent the year with them on-loan.
The Toffees are eager to pip Tottenham to the Barcelona midfielder.
And they have opened talks with Barca looking for £25m.
For his part, Gomes is happy to stay after impressing on Merseyside last season.
