There is some disagreement at the top of the Nations League winner market ahead of the finals getting underway on June 5.
Most bookmakers have England as favourites to seal their place in Euro 2020 early by coming out on top but bet365 make Portugal their 15/8 (2.88) frontrunners.
The four group winners from League A will square off for an automatic qualification at next summer’s European championships.
Fernando Santos’ side are reigning European champions and will have home advantage as they host Switzerland in the first semi-final.
The home team have lost just one of their last 15 matches in all competitions whereas the underdogs are winless in their last eight games played in Portugal.
At 6/1 (7.0) the Swiss are rank outsiders to win the tournament. It’s just 4/6 (1.67) that the hosts win in normal time when the sides meet in Porto.
The Three Lions are an industry-best price of 9/4 (3.25) to win the inaugural Nations League title. Gareth Southgate’s men will take on a Netherlands team that finished above Germany and world champions France in their group to reach this stage.
England got the better of Croatia and Spain to qualify for the knockout phase. While most firms rate them as the most likely winners, the success of English teams in this season’s European competitions could mean several key players will face a quick turnaround for their game against the Dutch.
The second semi-final in Guimaraes on June 6 comes just five days after Liverpool and Tottenham contest the Champions League final.
Harry Kane has spearheaded England’s attack with aplomb in recent months, being directly involved in 34 per cent of the 59 goals the national side have scored during Southgate’s tenure. The 25-year-old Spurs striker is hoping to be available for the showpiece finale in Madrid but has been out of action since early April.
Regardless of those concerns, England are 7/5 (2.40) favourites to beat Netherlands and progress to the final. The Oranje are 19/10 (2.90) to come out on top in normal time and it’s 9/4 (3.25) that the sides can’t be separated in 90 minutes. The teams last met in March 2018 where a Jesse Lingard goal was the difference in Amsterdam.
The two winning semi-finalists will go head-to-head at Estadio do Dragao on June 9 with the third-place match taking place earlier in the day.
