Premier League duo linked with moves for Rogic

After helping Celtic to an eighth straight domestic league title, Socceroos star Tom Rogic reportedly has two Premier League clubs chasing his signature over the off-season.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Southampton and Leicester City are considering making a move for the Australian midfielder over the coming months.

Having only recently signed a contract extension with the Hoops, Rogic won’t come cheaply and could cost interested clubs up to £20 million (AU$38 million).

The Saints have shown the most interest in the Socceroo to date and have reportedly been tracking him for the past two seasons.

Celtic’s previously strong relationship with Southampton makes a potential transfer between the two more likely with Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk joining the Saints from the Hoops in 2015.

Leicester are also lurking with former Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers now in charge of the Foxes and a long-time admirer of Rogic.

“The magic man is back – what a player,” Rodgers said of Rogic in 2018.

“He’s an amazing player. I think he can grow into one of the top midfield players in Europe.”

Rogic, now 26, has been long linked to a potential Premier League move with Arsenal reportedly showing interest in 2016.

The Aussie has struggled with injury in recent times, missing two months in early 2018 and 2019 with respective knee injuries.
