The US men’s national team are in line to return to a familiar stomping ground as they prepare for the Gold Cup this summer, and host a familiar foe in the process, according to a new report.
Last month The Washington Post reported that D.C. United‘s Audi Field was set to host one of the USMNT’s June warm-up friendlies in the leadup to the tournament, and on Tuesday night Yahoo! Soccer’s Doug McIntyre took to Twitter just before the US-Chile match kicked off in Houston to report that the game will take place on Wednesday, June 5, and the opponent will be Jamaica:
Hearing that the #usmnt will play Jamaica June 5 in that pre-Gold Cup tuneup at Audi Field in Washington D.C.

The occasion would mark the USMNT’s first match in the District of Columbia since Audi Field opened last year. United’s previous home in the nation’s capital, RFK Stadium, was a perennial venue for the Nats, having hosted more US matches than any other.
Reports suggest that Gregg Berhalter’s side will also play a warm-up friendly the following weekend, likely Sunday, June 9, before they kick off their Gold Cup title defense at Minnesota United‘s new Allianz Field on June 18. The full list of this year’s Gold Cup participants was confirmed over the weekend with the conclusion of Concacaf Nations League qualifying; the full schedule will be released when tournament draw takes place on April 10.
