Subbing on for Kamil Grosicki with Poland up 1-0 in the 83rd minute, Frankowski nearly scored on his first touch upon taking the field. Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski played a low cross into the six-yard box for Frankowski to finish, but Latvian goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors managed to push the attempt over the bar from close range. Kamil Glik provided Poland with a second goal in the 84th minute to push the score to 2-0 and secure three points for the home side.
With the win, Poland sit atop qualifying Group G with six points and a +3 goal differential after two matches played. Frankowski will next return to Chicago to help the Fire prepare for their next MLS regular season contest, a visit from the New York Red Bulls at Seatgeek Stadium on Saturday, March 30 (12 p.m. CT | ESPN+).
