Cairo International Stadium could host UEFA Champions League Final: Daily Mirror

CAIRO, 17 March 2019: The British newspaper, The Daily Mirror, reported on stadiums that could host the Champions League final in the future, depending on the comments by UEFA president, Alexander Severin.

The Cairo International Stadium, which is part of six stadiums outside the European continent, can host the big event.

The Daily Mirror reported that Cairo Stadium hosted Egyptian national team’s matches beside Al Ahly & Zamalek, Egypt’s giant clubs, league and African games.

This stadium, which seats up to 75,000 fans, is famous for creating a wonderful atmosphere.

It was founded in 1960 and underwent extensive maintenance in 2005 before hosting the 2006 African Nations Cup. It’s also among the stadiums that could host the next 2019 AFCON.

The Daily Mirror listed the nominations for stadiums outside the continent of Europe, which can host the Champions League final in the future as follows:

MetLife Stadium, New York, USA

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, USA

King Fahd International Stadium, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Khalifa International Stadium, Doha, Qatar
