Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick against Atletico Madrid to send them spiralling out of the UEFA Champions League. The Rojiblancos were leading two-nil from the first leg, before being undone by Ronaldo’s brilliance. However, the Spanish side is now planning to report the Portuguese star to the authorities for his actions during the match.
Atletico Madrid led Juventus two-nil, going into the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 second leg. However, Diego Simeone’s men were undone by the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a hattrick on the night, thereby turning the aggregate in Juventus’s favour.
After scoring one of the goals, however, Ronaldo went on to copy Diego Simeone’s infamous ‘cojones’ celebration in an attempt to mock the Argentine. Two weeks earlier, the Atletico Madrid head coach had proceeded to celebrate his side’s goal in a disorderly manner, earning a fine from the European football authority in the process.
While reports suggest that UEFA won’t investigate the incident involving Ronaldo, they might be forced to do so by Atletico Madrid. According to several sources, the Rojiblanocs are planning to report the Portuguese international to the authorities over his actions.
If UEFA decides to take action against the former Real Madrid star, he could be forced to pay a small fine. However, if they discover that his celebrations were aimed towards the away fans, he could be handed a one-match ban.
