The Bianconeri went into the second leg of their UCL round of 16 tie against Diego Simeone’s side with a two-goal deficit after suffering a 2-0 loss in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Needing at least three goals without reply to advance against a resilient Atletico side, former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo rose to the occasion, netting the 52nd hat-trick of his career to seal Juve’s ticket to the quarter-finals.
Griezmann, who finished in third place in the 2016 and 2018 editions of Ballon d’Or, has since claimed that he feels guilty about his side’s elimination form the competition, and also had some praise for match-winner Ronaldo.

“A little bit of everything went wrong. At all levels they were superior to us, like we were to them in the first leg. This time they were just superior.
“He (Ronaldo) has the measure of everybody and he is a great player.
“In the first leg, he didn’t have any chances, but tonight he had three opportunities and scored three goals.”
