Barcelona receive UEFA verdict after complaint over Spurs fan mistreatment – Spurs Web

Tottenham Hotspur fans travelled to the Nou Camp late last year with a slim dream of qualifying for the Champions League round of 16.

Spurs took just one point from their opening three group stage matches, and despite earning wins against Inter Milan and PSV at the second time of asking, they would likely still need to take points from group leaders Barca.

The Lilywhites knew that they had to match any result Inter Milan got, and as PSV were already certain to come bottom of the group, this would likely be all three points.

After going behind early, Tottenham fought back to earn a point from the 1-1 draw away to Barca.

Thankfully, PSV managed to earn the same result against Inter, and Tottenham went marching on to the next round.

However, it all turned rather sour as videos emerged of Barcelona stewards seemingly unnecessarily striking Spurs fans with batons.

Spurs contacted UEFA on behalf of the fans to complain about the incident, and UEFA have now confirmed that Barcelona have been charged for ‘insufficient organisation’ (The Sun).
