TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The Seattle Sounders have signed defender Saad Abdul-Salaam and waived defender Jordan McCrary, the club announced Tuesday. They also sent $50,000 Targeted Allocation Money to NYCFC for Abdul-Salaam’s MLS rights.
Abdul-Salaam, 27, featured in MLS from 2015-18 for Sporting Kansas City then NYCFC, making a total of 68 appearances. He’s spent preseason with the Sounders.
“We are pleased to welcome Saad officially into the club, after he showed his diverse skillset during preseason camp,” Sounders GM Garth Lagerwey said in a statement. “Saad has experience both at fullback and in central defense, and his athleticism will serve our team well across our backline. We are excited to see what he brings to the squad over the course of the season.”
McCrary made 15 appearances with the Sonders last season, his first with the club.
“We would like to thank Jordan for his contributions in Seattle,” said Lagerwey. “Jordan was a true professional during his time with us and we wish him nothing but success on his next career step.”
