Nicky Butt’s youngsters reached this stage last season, after beating Brodarac in the play-off, but lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park.
The date of the fixture, either 12 or 13 March, will be confirmed in due course. The path to the quarter-finals and semi-finals have also been mapped out with those taking place on 2/3 April and 26 April, with the final, in Nyon, scheduled for 29 April. Porto or Tottenham Hotspur will bar our way if we get past our Danish opponents.
“I was really pleased with how the team performed in the group stage, every match gave us a different scenario and we rose to each occasion to finish top of the group,”
Butt told ManUtd.com. “So we go into the round of 16 with plenty of confidence.
“We are really looking forward to the game, it is another challenge and it will be a great experience for the side to go and play against FC Midtjylland. That’s what it’s all about in this competition, gaining experience against European opposition and developing as players.”
