Ligue 1 Will come into force from 2019/20 season
Paris Saint-Germain ended what has been a sensational week for the Parisian club by announcing that AccorHotels will be the club’s new shirt sponsor from the beginning of the 2019/20 season.
Fly Emirates will be replaced with their agreement with the Ligue 1 champions coming to an end in June, and the hotel chain will take the prime space on the club’s shirts.
With 4,800 hotels in over 100 cities around the world, AccorHotels can be considered a major coup for the French club, especially from a financial perspective with their sponsorship now no longer linked with the Qatar region.
AccorHotels will pay approximately double the fee that Fly Emirates were required to pay as PSG are charging the hotel chain 50 million euros per year.
Financial Fair Play regulations continue to plague PSG and their hierarchy, and the sponsorship switch is one of the first moves the club plan to make in order to ‘legitimise’ their income in the eyes of UEFA.
Unsurprisingly, PSG are the highest earners through sponsorship in French football with regards to shirt sponsorship, yet their new deal will see them pull ever close to Manchester United‘s behemoth 66 million euro per year deal with Chevrolet.
MSC Cruises are also joining the PSG family with the company becoming an official travel partner for the Parisian giants, and this contract will run for three years.
The Parc des Princes will see advertising space around the ground be exclusively reserved for MSC Cruises’s insignia, with the company believed to be paying around two million euros per year for the privilege.
