What Matteo Guendouzi said about Ligue 1 switch after PSG linked with Arsenal star

Arsenal fans are only just getting used to be able to frequently enjoy the displays of youngster Matteo Guendouzi in their midfield, and so they don’t want to lose him already.

Which is why Gunners fans would have been alarmed to wake up to Sunday morning reports that Paris Saint-Germain are plotting to take the teenage midfielder back to France after just one season in England.

Guendouzi has earned rave reviews ever since swapping life as a relative unknown at Ligue 2 Lorient for the Gunners in the summer, and he’s often praised for his battling qualities even if Unai Emery’s side have suffered a bad result.

The 19-year-old also won praise for his manic celebrations after Arsenal beat Tottenham in December, and so he’s becoming a bit of a cult hero with Arsenal fans.

And they’ll like being reminded of this to.

Because as Guendouzi revealed in an interview in December, this isn’t the first time PSG have come calling for his services, as they did so back when he signed for the Gunners.

“It is true that PSG were very interested, like other teams, there were a lot of discussions, but for me the best decision I could make was to join Arsenal,” he told Canal Football Club ( via GFFN ) back then.

“Once they positioned themselves, I didn’t hesitate, I orientated myself in that direction.

“I think when I was young I watched a lot of Arsenal, but the fact that there are a lot of French guys there played a big role.”

There you go then, Arsenal fans.
