Saint-Etienne leapfrogged Olympique Marseille into fourth spot, while moved further away from the relegation zone in Ligue 1.
Saint-Etienne 2-1 Strasbourg
Saint-Etienne boosted their top four hopes with a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Robert Berić put the home side ahead after four minutes before Loïc Perrin doubled the advantage after 26 minutes.
Nuno da Costa pulled a goal back for the visitors after 73 minutes, but Saint-Etienne were able to hold on for the victory.
The win sees the hosts move up fourth spot, while Strasbourg remain in ninth.
Caen 0-1 Nantes
Nantes boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 victory over Caen at Stade Michel d’Ornano.
Valentin Rongier got the game’s only goal from the penalty spot after 80 minutes.
As a result, Nantes remain in 15th spot but they are nine points clear of the drop zone.
