Los Angeles Football Club 2, Atlanta United 2 | 2019 Preseason Match Recap

Hosts LAFC rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to draw Atlanta United 2-2 in a closed-door preseason match at a rain-soaked Banc of California Stadium on Sunday afternoon, both sides fueled by impressive goals from their respective superstar Designated Players.

A gorgeous Pity Martinez free-kick strike helped Atlanta take an early advantage, and Julian Gressel finished from an angle along the right flank to double the Five Stripes’ lead.

But Black & Gold trialist Adrien Perez rounded Brad Guzan to cut the deficit in half after the break before Carlos Vela tucked a low drive inside the far post to level matters:

LAFC are counting down to their MLS season opener vs. Sporting KC on March 3, while ATLUTD are further along in their preseason prep as they open 2019 with a two-legged Concacaf Champions League clash with Costa Rican club Herediano later this month.
