Nicolas Pepe Has Been In Fantastic Form For Lille This Season
Big clubs are always on the look out for the next young superstar to bring to their club and Nicolas Pepe could be the latest European hotshot to hit the headlines.
The Lille player has been in scintillating form in Ligue 1 this season with his performances continuing to take the plaudits around the world and there is no doubt that he will be the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer if that continues.
The 23-year-old winger is full of pace and quality but can also play as a centre-forward with his quality this season one the major factors in the French club emerging as the closest challengers to PSG at the top of the table.
Pepe was at it again on Friday night as he scored and set one up in the 4-0 win against Nice in a performance which has gone viral. The French born winger plays for the Ivory Coast on the International stage and has now scored 16 goals and assisted seven this term, which is a remarkable return for a player who only cost the club 10 millions Euros.
The best clubs in the world are sure to be sniffing around the player and one club who would benefit from his arrival is Liverpool as they look to go from strength-to-strength under Jurgen Klopp. The Anfield club are improving with every passing month these days but they will surely be looking to spend in attacking areas this summer with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi almost guaranteed to be leaving.
Timo Werner is the other name that Liverpool fans keep talking about but Pepe might actually fit the bill better as a payer that can play across the front line, with his pace and skill fitting the Klopp model perfectly.
The Reds have been slightly lacking strength and depth in that area of the pitch with not too much in the way of competition for Sadio Mane and Mo Salah in particular which must be rectified in the long term if they are to sustain their current level.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the young Ligue 1 star in recent weeks but the Gunners will surely struggle to attract a player of his quality given the rebuilding phase they find themselves in at the moment which could open the door for one of their Premier League rivals.
What do you think Liverpool fans, would Pepe be a good fit?
