Can PSG extend their unbeaten run in the Ligue1?
No side has beaten Paris Saint-Germain more than Olympique Lyon since their takeover by the Qatari owners in 2011, as French giants travel to Groupama Stadium on 3 February looking to continue their unbeaten run.
Lyon have constructed an impressive season so far with 40 points from their opening 22 matches. Just 6 points separate Lyon from 2nd place side Lille and win could see them reducing the gap to just a single point, should results go their way.
The first half of the season has been a cakewalk for the French powerhouse as they have cruised past each and every opponent in the domestic league.
The turn of the new year though, has seen PSG losing their first match of the season in the domestic circuit against Guingamp in the Copa de la Ligue. Thomas Tuchel has won just once in his last 3 away league fixtures in the league.
The first encounter between the sides at the Parc des France ended with PSG thrashing Lyon 5-0 but their last meeting at Groupama Stadium saw Lyon winning 2-1. So, this might be tricky one.
Here’s your team news and predicted XI.
Team News
Lyon
Bruno Génésio has no major concerns in his squad and is likely to field his strongest XI, with Marcal available after serving his suspension, while teenage striker Amine Gouiri remians a long term absentee.
PSG
Neymar will be a big miss for PSG
New arrival Leandro Paredes is expected to be drafted straight into the starting line-up, with the Argentine likely to partner either Dani Alves or Marquinhos at the centre of the park, while Adrien Rabiot is still out of contention for Thomas Tuchel after the Frenchman fell out with the manager.
With a key round-of-16 against a rejuvenated Manchester United side coming up in almost 10 days, PSG fans will be hoping for no more injuries to their star players after Neymar and Marco Veratti sustained setbacks, which will keep them out for the UCL fixture.
Probable line-ups
Lyon (3-4-1-2): Lopes; Denayer, Marcelo, Marcal; Dubois, Ndombele, Aouar, Mendy; Fekir; Depay, Dembele
PSG (4-2-2-2): Areola; Meunier, Kimpembe, Silva, Kurzawa; Marquinhos, Paredes; Mbappe, Draxler, Di Maria; Cavani
