Despite month-long interest, Fulham won’t be getting Ligue 1 full-back in January

Much like last August’s deadline day, Fulham are a bit all over the place in Europe trying to get deals done as they attempt to avoid relegation.

Already in talks to sign Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui from Slavia Prague, the Cottagers have continuously tried to sign Youssouf Sabaly from Bordeaux in France.

The news was first reported early on in the transfer window after they sent a ‘first offer’, and while talk died down a fair bit since, Fulham’s interest didn’t disappear.

According to L’Equipe journalist Emery Taisne, the Premier League club have, up until very recently, still tried to get a deal over the line, but the Ligue 1 side are standing firm.

A source close to the club told the French newspaper: “They want him, but we aren’t open to selling him at this moment”.

That might be good news for Fulham should they stay up in the Premier League, as perhaps Bordeaux will be happier to cash in on their full-back in the summer.
