TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Perhaps Atlanta United talisman Miguel Almiron’s expected European move won’t land him in the north of England after all.
Negotiations over an expected transfer to Newcastle United may have reached an impasse, resulting in Almiron’s agent departing for Italy to shop his client’s services to Serie A suitors, according to a report Saturday from Newcastle-based newspaper The Chronicle.
There continues to be an impasse over agreeing to both a transfer fee and an agent fee, The Chronicle indicates. Time is growing thin to find another suito, with the transfer windows in both England and Italy closing on Thursday.
Earlier last week, a separate report from Univision Deportes indicated Newcastle’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur could be poised to swoop in for Almiron, in part because of recent injuries to star attackers Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Meanwhile, Almiron has been in preseason camp with the defending MLS Cup champions as they prepare for their first foray in the Concacaf Champions League next month.
