Houston Dynamo

The Dynamo, gearing up for their 2019 Concacaf Champions League series against Guatemalan outfit CD Guastatoya next month, will have something of an expanded squad scrimmage against RGVFC to get into game action.

Houston head coach Wilmer Cabrera is not overlooking the importance of CCL for his club.

“You have to be very ambitious, because if you don’t think big then you cannot achieve anything,” Cabrera told MLSsoccer.com on Wednesday. “Realistic? That’s different. We’re ambitious, but we have to be realistic, you have to create that balance. It will help to prepare you very well to have great expectations, but be humble enough to understand it’s a very difficult competition.”

RGVFC

Rio Grande Valley FC are gearing up for their fourth season, and kicked off preseason on Monday alongside the Dynamo in Houston. The club held tryouts earlier this month, and under head coach Gerson Echeverry will look to return to the USL Championship playoffs, after a disappointing 2018 season left them 13th in the Western Conference.

RGVFC will open their 2019 regular season campaign on March 9 on the road against Seattle Sounders 2.
