TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
After losing attackers Kei Kamara, Alphonso Davies and Erik Hurtado to offseason departures, the Vancouver Whitecaps may be close to adding some striking talent in Icelandic international Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.
The Caps have acquired Sigthorsson on a year-long loan from French Ligue 1 side Nantes, according to French newspaper Ouest-France.
Sigthorsson had previously refused a move to Sweden because of concern over artificial playing surfaces, according to French sports newspaper L’Equipe last year.
The 28-year-old has seen action sparingly in recent seasons in the French top flight, but previously scored double digit goals twice during his time in the Dutch Eredivisie, once with AZ and once with Ajax.
He has also featured repeatedly for Iceland, including scoring twice for the island nation in their international coming-out party of sorts at the 2016 European Championships.
