UEFA figures detail the meteoric rise of Leicester City following Champions League campaign

Leicester City had the second fastest growing revenue stream in European football in 2017, according to figures released by UEFA.

City had the 13th highest revenue in 2017, according to the figures, with an income of €274 million (£240 million), but that represented a year on year growth of €100 million, which was a growth rate of 58 percent in euros and 80 percent in pounds.

City were still reaping the rewards from their title triumph in 2017 and their debut campaign in the Champions League, where they reached the quarter finals.

RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga had the highest growth rate of 60 percent in euros, but that was from a revenue of €191 million and year on year growth of €72 million, raising them to 24 in the list of the top 30 clubs in Europe.

The next highest growth in the Premier League was Southampton in 18 with 28 percent and Tottenham Hotspur in 11 with 27 percent, from a total revenue of €356 million.

Topping the list with the highest revenue was Manchester United with €676 million, but their year on year growth was down by €13 million, which was minus 2 percent in euros but up 12 percent in local currency.
