TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Transfer
FC Cincinnati has acquired midfielder Allan Cruz via a transfer from Costa Rican side Herediano, the club announced on Friday afternoon, and the 22-year-old will join Cincy’s roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Dubbed by some the “Tico Kante” for his ability to patrol midfield and break up opposition attacks, Cruz has earned six caps with the Costa Rican national team and has been a subject of widespread transfer interest across MLS and beyond for months.

“We are excited to add Allan to our roster,” FCC head coach Alan Koch said in a club release. “While he is still a young player, he has already found success on the pitch at both the club and international levels. We look forward to getting him acquainted with our club and the city of Cincinnati.”
Cruz helped Herediano win the 2018 Apertura season in Liga FPD (Costa Rica’s top flight) as well as the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf League title, booking a spot in this year’s Concacaf Champions League.
Previously, reports suggested that Herediano might arrange a deal with FCC to keep Cruz on board for their CCL campaign, in which case he’d report to Cincy in March, but that picture changed this week. He also previously played for Uruguay de Coronado in his home country.
