The awards just keep on coming for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who was named African Player of the Year for the second year running at the CAF Awards gala on Tuesday evening.
Salah took the top honours to beat Anfield teammate Sadio Mane into second place, with Arsenal and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finishing in third.

At this rate, he’s going to need a bigger mantelpiece.
Having received his trophy, Salah was coaxed into performing a little victory dance alongside Mane as the pair shared the stage with Senegalese music star Youssou N’Dour.

Salah winning the Player of the Year award came just a day after Egypt was named as the host for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, thus putting a cap on what has been an incredible week for the country.
