Nantes began the new year with three points, while Amiens and Angers shared the spoils in Tuesday’s Ligue 1 action.
Amiens SC 0-0 Angers
Ligue 1 strugglers Amiens and Angers cancelled each other out in a drab goalless draw at the Stade de la Licorne.
It’s a disappointing result that neither side had hoped for as it does little to bring any meaningful effect on their league standings.
As a consequence, the two sides continue to hover in treacherous territory in their battle to avoid slumping into a relegation mud.
Nantes 2-0 Montpellier
Nantes ran out 2-0 victors at the Stade de la Beaujore in Louis Fonteneau against a ten-man Montpellier on Tuesday.
Second-half efforts from Abdul Majeed Waris and Nicolas Pallois was all it took to separate the two sides, as Nantes move up two places to 12 from 14th.
Montpellier on the other hand suffer a slight dent in their hopes of cementing a top-four spot, missing the chance to head into third spot ahead of Olympique Lyon.
Forward Gaetan Laborde was sent for an early shower for the visiting side after a reckless challenge with 19 minutes from kick off.
