Could Aaron Long be the next New York Red Bulls center back heading to Europe?
The 2018 MLS Defender of the Year, who could be following in the footsteps of Tim Ream (Fulham) and Matt Miazga (Chelsea), appears to be drawing interest from European clubs, specifically Eintracht Frankfurt, according to a tweet from Mariano Trujillo from Fox Deportes. Trujillo is also a former member of the Mexican men’s national team and Chivas USA.

Long is coming off a breakthrough season with the Red Bulls, helping anchor a defense that conceded the fewest goals (33) in MLS during a regular season which saw New York win the Supporters’ Shield for the third time in six years and set an MLS record for points in a season (71).
The 26-year-old started 31 of the 34 regular season matches he appeared in, scoring three goals and setting up two others.
Long also made his international debut this season, earning his first cap for the US men’s national team in a 90-minute performance in a 1-1 draw against Peru in October and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Italy last month.
Long was among the 27 MLS-based players called into new USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter’s first January camp.
