TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The Houston Dynamo have found considerable success over the years in fielding players from Honduras, and a new report claims another one is on the way to Texas.
Honduran outlet El Heraldo reported on Friday that the Dynamo will be adding defender Kevin Alvarez for the 2019 season. According to the report, the Dynamo have been working on the move for months, and Alvarez is set to play his final game for current club Olimpia this weekend.
Alvarez, 22, is a right back who has spent his entire career to date with Olimpia. In addition to winning several domestic league titles, he has experience playing in Concacaf Champions League, which Houston will return to in 2019.
In addition to his club experience, Alvarez is a Honduran youth and senior international, most notably playing for Los Catrachos in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Dynamo currently have three Hondurans on their roster, in veteran Boniek Garcia and emerging stars Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto. At present, right back appears to be a position of need for the club for the upcoming season.
