Juan Mata has been speaking to BT Sport after his return to Valencia:
“The gameplan was try to win. We wanted to play as a team, some players have not been playing a lot, so not a good day for them to play minutes.
“We kept the ball sometimes, maybe not as good other times, and we conceded some chances. They were playing in front of an amazing, passionate crowd so that played a part.
“We reacted too late and we should have scored again. Overall, [it’s] disappointing because we know Juventus lost and we could have been first.
“Now we have qualified and we have to think about Liverpool. For me personally, it’s very good to feel the love of the club and supporters.
On knockout stages:
“We have to wait and see who we play against, we have to believe we can beat whoever it is.
“The teams that have qualified are very good. It doesn’t matter if we play good or bad, we have to believe we can win.
Jose Mourinho has been speaking to BT Sport:
“First of all because we didn’t score two goals, we lost 2-1. Joke apart, we were competitive in the first half, quite comfortable with the ball but not enough intensity and ambition.
“In the second half, I was pretty sure after speaking at half time, things could be different but we start with an own goal, that gave Valencia a better position to control.
“The team improved immediately after my changes [Lingard and Rashford]. The team played faster and we should probably get the 2-2 because we had couple of important chances to equalise. We were too comfortable and not enough intensity in the first half.
“It is not about Liverpool today, this is the Champions League. I don’t know why the Liverpool game is being brought into it. We go into every match to win it, sometimes we do it, sometimes not but our intention is always the same.
Thoughts on qualifying?
“Job done in a difficult group. I don’t think we were brilliant, but we got enough points. We did enough with the squad we have, with the injuries we have, so I am satisfied.
Who will City face?
Manchester City can only face one of four teams in the next round. That’s because they cannot play any of the other English teams, who all finished second, or Lyon, who finished second in this group.
They will play one of: Schalke, Atletico Madrid, Roma and Ajax.
Phil Foden has also been talking to BT Sport
“I enjoyed it, to get 90 minutes under my belt and take my chance when I can.
Obviously I got my contract, now I’m just trying to settle down and get my head down.
“I’m still young and I’m learning everyday and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”
Match winner Leroy Sane, on BT Sport
On winning the group – “I think that was our target today, to win here at home, to be first.
“We had some good moments and at the beginning we made it hard but the end was a very good game.”
On the free-kick – “I was thinking whether to shoot or not to shoot. It was quite the distance. At the end it went in so it was lucky.”
We now have our last 16…
Group winners: Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, PSG, Porto, Bayern, Man City, Real Madrid, Juventus.
Runners up: Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Liverpool, Schalke, Ajax, Lyon, Roma, Manchester United
GOAL DISALLOWED!
Young Boys 2-1 Juventus | 90+3 mins
Dybala denied a beautiful 30-yarder as Ronaldo was just offside and interfering with play! Oh what a tragedy!
