TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
With new head coach Matias Almeyda in place, the San Jose Earthquakes could be looking to South America right away for reinforcements for the 2019 season.
That’s according to a new report from Brazilian outlet Globo, which alleged the Earthquakes are set to sign Brazilian midfielder Judson.
The 25-year-old has spent his entire career to date in his native country playing for a series of clubs. Most recently at Avai, the Globo report indicates that the deal with the Quakes would be a loan for a year, as Judson is under contract at Tombense. At Avai, he played heavy minutes across all competitions while helping the side earn promotion to Serie A for 2019, after being relegated the year before.
San Jose finished with the worst record in MLS in 2018. First-year head coach Mikael Stahre was fired in September, and Almeyda, who has had successful stints coaching in Argentina for River Plate and Banfield and in Mexico for Chivas de Guadalajara, was hired several weeks later for the 2019 campaign.
