Footballing governing body UEFA have confirmed that they are set to launch the third European club competition, which will start from 2021.
The UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League are currently the only two European competitions that UEFA have, but reports had earlier suggested that they could look to bring in a third European competition.
It has now been confirmed by many journalists that UEFA are set to launch a third European competition to complement the first two ones. It will be put in place in the 2021 season onwards.

It has been confirmed that the league will be called UEFA Europa League 2 and will have 32 teams, which will play in 8 groups of 4. It is also told that the teams that will finish third in the UEFA Europa League will play in this new league.
The winners of each of the groups will make the round of 16 teams and matches will be held on Thursday, with the formats expected to be similar to how teams qualify for Champions League and Europa League.
