Runners-up in the competition last season, OM scored two own-goals as they were beaten 4-0 by Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday. However, if they record a third successive Ligue 1 Conforama win at home to Reims, they could find themselves in the top three in the table.
“Thursday is in the past, we’re thinking about the game against Reims at a Vélodrome where more than 50,000 fans are expected. It’s an asset, and we have played our best games at home,” said Garcia, whose team beat Amiens 3-1 last weekend.
“We need an ambitious, combative squad like the one that played at Amiens. We scored goals, we could have scored more. We were quite solid defensively. Those are all the ingredients that we have to put in against Reims.”

Highly critical of his squad after the disastrous performance in Germany, Garcia will have some major choices to make, notably in attack where Valère Germain and Kostas Mitroglou have both struggled for form and confidence this season, netting just six league goals between them.
“You have to know your players well, they’re all different,” replied Garcia. “You have to tell them what’s expected of them so that they achieve their personal objectives in terms of how they train, play in a match and carry themselves.
“It’s up to them, when they have the possibility, to express their talent to its full. If they’re at OM, it’s that we think they can contribute to the team and achieve the aim of qualifying for the Champions League.
“I have faith in my squad, and it’s the players who force me to pick them. The decisions are easier when you have a player who’s in form and makes the team win. We help the others, because today’s substitutes can be tomorrow’s first-choices.”
