TRANSFER TRACKER: Signings
Real Salt Lake announced the signings of midfielder Luis Arriaga and goalkeeper David Ochoa on Wednesday. The duo become the 17th and 18th Homegrown signings in club history.
Both players, 17, are products of RSL’s academy.
Ochoa is a native of Oxnard, Calif. and has been receiving regular call-ups this year by the US U-20 national team, including as a member of the newly minted 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship-winning squad, where he helped the Americans advance to the final with a shutout performance in the semifinal round.
The goalkeeper has already made his debut at USL level, starting in a game for RSL’s reserve team, Real Monarchs, in April. He is regarded as one of the top goalkeeping prospects in the US youth national team player pool.
“These are two players who we know very well from the RSL Academy,” RSL assistant general manager Elliott Fall said in a team statement. “We believe that both Arriaga and Ochoa can join the group we have and continue to help build our club at the professional level. We’re excited to see two more players from our Academy who are able to make the leap to the professional game and contribute to our club.”
Arriaga joined the academy at 14, and has scored 55 goals since 2015. The native of Santa Rosa, Calif. has played in nine academy matches so far this season.
