After a deadlock in the first leg, Sporting Kansas City are looking to score goals at home against Portland and book their ticket to MLS Cup. The return of Diego Rubio from suspension may help their chances, but in 2018, SKC have looked to their wingers to score goals. They have multiple weapons in that area, but perhaps the most dangerous is the 28-year-old Scotsman, Johnny Russell.
Speed, strength and technical ability are all key facets of Russell’s game, and for the home team to move on, he’ll have to be on top of his game. Matt Doyle and Bobby Warshaw break down Russell’s style of play and his impact from Leg 1.
If SKC are scoring goals, will they come from Russell, Rubio or elsewhere? Let us know what you think.
Don’t miss the second leg of the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Championship between Sporting KC and the Portland Timbers on Thursday night (9:30 pm ET | ESPN, ESPN Deportes, TSN2, TVAS2).
