The visitors were moving the ball quicker before halftime but they could not bring Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes into action and went into the halftime break level pegging.

Maxwel Cornet did find the breakthrough for Bruno Genesio’s troops ten minutes into the second stanza with a spectacular strike from the edge of the box after Memphis Depay played a quick short free-kick, 1-0.

City equalised in the 62nd minute through Aymeric Laporte, who powered a header past Lopes after a flick on by Silva following a free-kick, 1-1.

The Ligue 1 side did not sit back as Cornet restored the lead for the hosts nine minutes before time following a counter-attack to complete his brace.
