Report: Berhalter closing in on deal for USMNT job; Pareja interviewed

Gregg Berhalter is reportedly closing in on a deal to become the next manager of the US national team, but isn’t the only candidate in the running.

Doug McIntyre of Yahoo! Sports reports that no deal has been finalized for Berhalter, though one is close, and former FC Dallas boss Oscar Pareja has been interviewed as well. The pair were two of four final candidates; At least one of the other mystery finalists were international, according to McIntyre.

Berhalter of Columbus Crew SC has long been the favorite to eventually land the USMNT job, which has been vacant for more than a year now. Pareja, who departed FCD just a few days ago, had reportedly only been interviewed recently by US Soccer.
