2019/20 U19 qualifying round draw seedings – Under-19 – News

The 2019/20 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round draw will be made at 10:00CET on 6 December in Nyon and will involve 52 of the 53 nations aiming to join hosts Northern Ireland in the eight-team finals.

A total of seven nations will compete with hosts Northern Ireland in the final tournament in May 2020. Top seeds Portugal have been given a bye to the elite round while, for the draw, the remaining entrants will be divided into four pots of 13 teams each according to their coefficient.

In total, 13 groups will be formed, all containing one team from each of the seeding pots, with the respective hosts appointed after the draw and games to be played next autumn, by 19 November 2019. The top two in every group, along with the third-placed team with the best record against the leading pair, will follow Portugal into the elite round in spring 2020.

After that round, the seven group winners will join Northern Ireland in that July’s finals.

Pot C: Hungary, Finland, Switzerland, Romania, Montenegro, Slovenia, Cyprus, FYR Macedonia, Latvia, Azerbaijan*, Wales, Belarus, Iceland

Pot D: Lithuania, Kosovo*, Estonia, Moldova, Luxembourg, Albania, Malta, Armenia*, Andorra, Kazakhstan, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar*, San Marino

*Based on previous decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee and UEFA Emergency Panel, these teams cannot be drawn together: Spain and Gibraltar, Serbia and Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
