TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Brazilian Juninho could be on the verge of playing for his third Major League Soccer team, according to a report.
Citing sources, The Athletic said the 29-year-old central midfielder was in Toronto Tuesday undergoing a physical with Toronto FC — the first player to meet with the team in the offseason.
Juninho, who is out of contract, spent six years with the LA Galaxy, winning three MLS Cups. He returned to MLS, playing for the Chicago Fire in 2017 while on a year-long loan from Club Tijuana in Liga MX, where he scored one goal in 20 appearances.
At the time, Juninho expressed interest in staying in MLS, but didn’t reach an agreement with the Fire when the loan ended and has been without a club since, according to Transfermarkt.
