When Sporting Kansas City face the Portland Timbers in Leg 1 of the Western Conference Championship, they’ll be without one of their leading goalscorers Diego Rubio due to a suspension for yellow card accumulation.
Any player cautioned in two separate playoffs games earns an automatic one-game suspension, though cards are wiped clean for the MLS Cup final.
With Rubio already sidelined, there are a host of players in that series, as well as the Eastern Conference Championship between the New York Red Bulls and Atlanta United, who will be walking a tightrope in the first leg this Sunday.
Here is the full list of players who are one yellow card away from suspension:
| Player | Team |
|---|---|
| Josef Martinez | ATL |
| Eric Remedi | ATL |
| Hector Villalba | ATL |
| Franco Escobar | ATL |
| Miles Robinson | ATL |
| Diego Chara | POR |
| Andres Flores | POR |
| Liam Ridgewell | POR |
| Diego Valeri | POR |
| Sean Davis | RBNY |
| Roger Espinoza | SKC |
