Group C is turning into the tightest group of the group stage but the FC panel, except Gab Marcotti, all feel Liverpool are the surest to qualify.
The younger brother of Naby Keita has been training at Liverpool’s academy after leaving his club in Germany, sources have told ESPN FC.
Petit Keita, a 17-year-old striker, has been seen at Liverpool’s Kirkby complex since departing fifth-tier side Inter Leipzig during the summer.
Sources said Petit left Germany with Naby Keita when his brother finally became a Liverpool player, joining from RB Leipzig in July.
It is not clear whether Liverpool have offered the Guinean a contract or intend to do so.
Petit Keita followed his brother to Leipzig in 2016 and found a place to play in the same city.
Inter Leipzig, founded in 2014, are committed to providing players of different backgrounds with a platform to progress in the game.
They had high hopes for the younger Keita after he had played for their under-19s last season and were disappointed to see him leave, sources said.
“He’s a classic centre-forward, who with aggressiveness and his work rate is up there with the U19s’ best strikers,” Inter Leipzig coach Heiner Backhaus told Fussball.DE in May.
