Al Ahly striker Walid Azarou is rumored to be on the radar of two Ligue 1 French clubs after his superb title winning season with Al Ahly last campaign.
Since his arrival to Egypt, Azarou has taken the league by storm, becoming the highest-ever top scorer in a single campaign in Egypt’s history after guiding Al Ahly to the league title with 18 goals.
The 23-year-old was subject to a bid from Super League club Hebei China Fortune, who had their bid turned down by Al Ahly, only to go and sign fellow Moroccan forward Ayoub Al Kaabi last summer.
According to Moroccan sports website Maghrib Today, Olympique de Marseille and Souchaux have placed Azarou on their radar, in a view to sign him next January.
It would be very hard to convince Al Ahly to part ways with their leading goal scorer, after the club turned a Chinese offer that was in excess of 10 million US Dollars for the player’s services.
Azarou was part of the national team set up that against Comoros in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier a few days ago. He participated for 15 minutes in the match at home and was involved in his side’s only goal.
Since his arrival in Egypt, Azarou has managed to score 31 goals in 52 games for Africa’s most successful club Al Ahly, winning the Egyptian Premier League in the process as well as a runners up medal in the CAF Champions League.
